Our designers have been working on Sergey Tyukanov's "Purgatory, Heaven, and Hell" for a couple of years now (not consistently but it has been floating around). Maria Berg came up with the original design and pieces but some of them were too exquisite and were getting broken in-the-field (that is, out there with you guys).
We halted making Purgatory a couple years ago to robustify the pieces. Tara Flannery took a crack at it, but there were still nagging problems.
Jef Bambas was assigned the task to bring everything together and get this puzzle up and going again -- and boy was it a task! He worked hard to tie the three elements of this puzzle together by looking outside the puzzle (literally). He designed a new and original backdrop and added some extra pieces that brought this puzzle up to a whopping 659 pieces.
We are pleased to say that the design is finished and is looking to be in stock by Fall. Here's a sneak preview of some of the pieces designed by Maria berg:
Happy Puzzling!
Got this puzzle from a friend and cannot for the life of me figure out the final40-50 pieces of black left. Searched everywhere for a diagram only to find NONE! Sic!
Normally I like artifact puzzles but this is not good. Come on we need a valid picture of the finished piece or you are going to ……purgatory!
