Review: This Van Gogh painting is probably one of the most ubiquitous: reproduced on posters, mugs, mousepads, you name it. And yet, with this familiarity, its beauty and its mysteries still don't fade away . Van Gogh was religious in his young age -he even had a gig as a missionary, though not successful- and "Starry Night" has some echoes of his spirituality. Interestingly, it is a landscape he saw from his bedroom at the asylum in Arles. The big strokes speak of his anguish and agitation, and yet the painting coming out of his troubled mind results in a peaceful effect. At a time when the James Webb Space Telescope is cruising the universe and delights us by looking back about 13.5 billion years, "Starry Night" conveys the same feelings of awe and questioning: are we alone in this big unknown universe, where do we come from, where are we going? By doing this puzzle, you immerse yourself in these expressionistic swirls and lose yourself in the blues. A lot of the whimsies are exquisitely delicately cut: for example, the limbs of the two women for gemini are so thin, wow! Artifact, this laser-cut technology is really amazing! There are star-whimsies galore, mirroring the stars in the artwork (Van Gogh saw stars as "hope"). I was very touched by Michael Fox's commentary (see below), and I can see how this puzzle can have a healing power. It is a hard puzzle that will definitely bring you on a journey.

Review: Loved this classic, the colors are vivid and tue - and the finished piece is beautiful. I framed this one, sits near my Erin Hanson puzzle that I also framed.

Review: It’s common to return from a pilgrimage with a small, physical memento to serve as a reminder or a metaphor of the journey and its discoveries. My wife and I journeyed from Louisiana to California and back—some five thousand miles over sixteen days—a pilgrimage to our nephew’s memorial and an opportunity to remember the loss of ten previous family members in the six years since we moved from the Golden State to the Deep South. On our journey, we carried this beautiful puzzle with us in and out of hotels along the way. The pilgrimage was a beautiful, sacred experience. But, the small, physical memento of our pilgrimage proved elusive. Until our final day in California. I arose before dawn and placed the final few pieces of the puzzle. I sat back in my chair and observed the finished puzzle. My attention moved from the rather foreboding cedar tree in the foreground to the stillness of the village to the swirls of energy to the radiant crescent moon, and—finally—to the pulsing stars in the heaven. Instinctively, I started to count them: "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven." Eleven stars in the heaven. "Tom, Kitty, Gracie, Bonnie, Mark, Bob, Ray, Barbara, Lucy, David, and Ricardo." I had found my memento to remember this pilgrimage. I had packed it before we began the journey, unawares. This puzzle was heaven sent.

Review: I adore van Gogh so I knew I had to have this. At first glance it may look all blue; but, with many subtle shades (each star is unique as you know) and such movement in the strokes it will never bore or frustrate the average puzzler. The zodiac whimsies are cute and interesting. This is a great puzzle for the whole family.
