This 76 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle is a classic example of 17th century Dutch Baroque maritime painting by the master of the genre Abraham Storck, and shows whalers in the arctic fighting with polar bears. Click on the little pictures below the big picture to see example pieces - the puzzle features multi-piece marine mammal whimsies by Seattle artist Tara Flannery. This puzzle has a straight edge and average difficulty. All our puzzles are made with 1/4" wood. Packaged in a small box with magnetic clasp.
Review: I enjoy historical puzzles, among other themes, so these 17th c. Dutch whalers in the Arctic intrigued me. I loved the whimsies, and the two different major connectors Tara Flannery used. However, the colors seemed a bit "mushy" on the puzzle itself, compared to the picture online and on the box. The details weren't quite as clear as I expected. I would be very interested in seeing this painting full size! It was much more fun to do the second time than the first, and took me about half the time. It will be fun to do multiple times, I'm sure.

Review: I absolutely love Artifact Puzzles. I have always loved this image, but was sad that it was so small and with so few pieces, but I bought one for my mom, who has Alzheimers, and is happiest with "small puzzles" that she can do by herself in less than an hour. It was a delight to do! The whimsy pieces are truly works of art in themselves and the larger mammals are puzzles within the puzzle to construct. It is a gorgeous image and one that I am sure my mom will be happy to do again and again, me too!
