This 202 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle is challenging because the piece connectors are not unique, so the richly detailed image is the only clue to put this puzzle together. Click on the little image underneath the puzzle image to see examples of the hexagonal pieces with hexagonal-shaped connectors. The puzzle is quite challenging. The image is a miniature painting from Bundi (in Rajasthan) from the 18th century (artist name not known). It shows four women in a palace garden, shooting off Roman candles. This is a beautiful but old image and has a number of dark stains that are part of the image itself. The puzzle is laser-cut from 1/4" thick wood, and made in USA. Packaged in a small box with a magnetic clasp.

Review: Gorgeous puzzle. Wonderfully made. Wooden pieces. Unfortunately, my puzzle-obsessed friend finished it in one day. I was hoping it’d be more of a challenge. PS the miniature is in reference to the painting, not the puzzle. It’s a replica of miniature painting from the Mughal period in South Asia.

Review: After doing about two dozen artifact puzzles I have to say this is my least favorite. Of course, Artifact puzzles are the best and even with one that’s not your favorite it’s still going to be a high-quality, well cut and thought out puzzle. I just don’t care for the shaped pieces because they’re a little constrained and similar. I was also confused by this being called miniature because the pieces are not mini and the finished puzzle size isn’t any more miniature than other artifact puzzles. I thought I would like the artwork in person but it just didn’t speak to me much once it arrived. it does have some nice detail in the image and wasn’t too difficult if you’ve done other artifact puzzles. Compared to traditional jigsaw puzzle – these are like night and day. You may not be great at jigsaw puzzles but find you can easily make progress on these ones. And find them clever and satisfying.

Review: I'd looked at the Bundi Palace Garden puzzle for a long time, as I love the exotic painting. I didn't realize which category of difficulty it was in until just before buying it, but decided it would be a good difficult one to start with. To me, many of the colors seem bright, but the same colors and patterns appear in different places, making the puzzle harder. A friend and I looked at the painting online, and her comment was that it probably had an irregular border. We looked at the pieces when it arrived, and she said the same thing. She was right. This border cuts off some of the picture on the box, so be forewarned. Because so many of the pieces are identical and fit in multiple places, I was frustrated for a while. I also thought some pieces were missing, especially around the border. Finally I decided to just go with the flow. I hope I ended up with all the pieces where they belong! All in all, this turned out to be one of Artifact's most satisfying puzzles.

Review: The Bundi Palace Garden Miniature is an outstanding and super enjoyable puzzle. The muted colors and similar patterns of the painting, combined with the mesmerizing geometric shape of its pieces, all contributed to its sneakily subtle complexity. The quality is apparent, in both the look and feel of the pieces, and I really love how substantial they felt as I put them into place. Nearly every piece of the puzzle is hexagonal in shape with small hexagonal connectors....many of which will fit perfectly into the wrong spots! The border is irregularly shaped and is formed by the same look-alike pieces as the interior....so it's hard to tell border and interior pieces apart! There are five creative whimsies that are perfectly themed to the painting. Due to the puzzle's size, I think it is the perfect starter puzzle for people wanting to try working something with more difficulty. It's small enough that it's not too overwhelming for those who haven't worked an Artifact puzzle rated as "very hard" before, but it is still definitely challenging enough for those accustomed to difficult puzzles. Artifact really hit the sweet spot with this one!
