New February 2022!
This 418 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle's of "Dawning Saguaro" by Erin Hanson has a design by Tara Flannery.
The design has lots of Sonoran Desert themed whimsies amidst its reverse-mushroom curl pieces in a southwest-inspired pattern. Its edge is straight and it is a bit harder than average (so, kind of hard).
Like all our puzzles, made with 1/4" thick wood and the pieces are laser-cut. Packaged in our standard pine wood box. Made in the USA.

What a delightful experience! The painting is stunning with its bold yummy colors and the kind of German Expressionist-ish strokes. And the choreography of the puzzle is very satisfying: it emphasizes the diagonals in the composition of the painting by creating an inner frame of concentric diamonds. This grid brings a sense of balance and order in the unruly landscape. This desert is also crowded with whimsies (lots of dinosaurs and other creatures) that makes it fun to assemble. It was challenging because the abstract rendering makes it difficult to orient yourself in the image, but each piece features a unique identity that guides you through color and/or shape. Absolutely lovely!

My favorite Artifact Puzzle to date! This took me several days to complete, which is a long time for me! Chocked full of beautiful whimsies, each piece so beautifully colored. Erin's brush strokes make this puzzle extra changing. I can't wait to redo this puzzle and have already ordered Erin Hanson's Cypress Lights!

Dawning Saguaro is a cool drink of water in the middle of the desert. I could feel the heat of the sun as I made my way through this challenging, but not hellish puzzle. Erin Hanson's brushstrokes are mesmerizing, and only reveal the image once you've got a far number of pieces placed. I did this puzzle while listening to a audiobook of nature stories. The combo was transporting, and it was a jolt once finished to find myself at home.
This puzzle also is one to flip when completed to see more clearly the artistry of the puzzle design artist - in this case, Tara Flannery.

This is a lovely, challenging puzzle. It’s definitely one of the more challenging of the Erin Hanson puzzles. My husband and I really enjoyed working on this puzzle together. Highly recommended!

Dawning Suguaro took me by surprise with it’s beauty and it’s high level of difficulty. I treasure all of the Erin Hanson puzzles and find most of them to be more challenging than average due to the amazing number of multicolored brush stokes in each piece (Layers of Afternoon was a disappointingly easy exception). This one was “really hard” - but not grueling hard, just hard enough I had to adjust my thinking about finishing from hours to days. The cut doesn’t look hard in the pictures but it is tricky and reveals a really nice interior design that explains all those extra edge pieces that aren’t really edge pieces. All in all a great puzzle experience!
