This is a subscription to the Hoefnagel Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle Club, which is the best private library for wooden jigsaw puzzles. Members get to borrow  1,500 different wooden jigsaw puzzles by over 50 different wooden jigsaw puzzle makers, including most Artifact/Ecru puzzles, but also fancy-schmancy hand-cut puzzles by the best puzzle-makers in the world like Stave puzzles, as well as hand-cut puzzles by award-winning artisans like Chestnut & Hemlock Puzzles. 

You can browse the library before joining to see what all we offer.

Here's how the Hoefnagel Club works:

  • You add any puzzles you'd like to do to your wishlist (most puzzles come in a pack with two puzzles). 
  • You can keep each pack as short or as long as you want (until the membership expires).
  • After you return a pack, we send you a new pack from your wishlist, usually in about a week. 

Shipping Costs: You can go through puzzles as fast or slow as you want, and shipping to you is free, but we charge a $10.95 shipping fee when you return each pack of puzzles.   Most packs have 2 puzzles, so this is generally $5.5 total-shipping-costs per puzzle. 

Is The Club A Good Value? Yes if you do at least 1 puzzle-a-month. If you do fewer puzzles, this is still an amazing value if you want access to the world's best puzzles.

Makes a Great Gift!: You can gift a subscription in two ways.  

Gifting Option 1: Just the Membership: Buy the membership here (and let them pay their own ship-out fees), then email us right away at artifactpuzzles@gmail.com to let us know it is a gift with:

  • when you want them notified by email (and the subscription activated)
  • their email address
  • your gift message (any length)

Gifting Option 2: All Expenses Paid: If you prefer to cover all the shipping fees for your gift, buy your gift subscription from the Hoefnagel Puzzle Club page directly, they will keep your credit card on file and charge it for your recipient's shipping fees. Note some people go through a pack a week, so please make sure you love them that much before choosing this option! 

What Happens Next? If you purchase your membership here, you will receive an email in 24 hours with instructions for activating your subscription, and you'll receive your first puzzle pack 2-10 days after you've added at least 10 packs to your wishlist.

Review: 12-2-25 - update on my previous review of 9-2-22. I’ve now been a member for just over 4 years. All the good things I had to say 3 years ago still hold true. Is this something that would satisfy your puzzling needs? Here’s some data on my experience. Solved my first puzzle on 11-14-21, solved my 374th on 11-27-25. The piece counts have ranged from 48 to 1484. The solving times have ranged from 26:19 to 35:13:22. The difficulties as measured by the solving minutes to piece count ratio have ranged from 18 seconds to 3 minutes 23 seconds between piece connections. I’ve done 374 puzzles from the Club, from 38 different brands, totaling 176980 pieces, taking 2238:41:37 in solving time. The Club has something for every taste, from easy enough to do casually in less than an hour to ones that take many hours of absorbed effort every day for a week, from contemporary, frivolous, funny, feel good artwork to masterworks of fine art of a decidedly grim nature like some Renaissance paintings by Pieter Brueghel the Elder or Hieronymus Bosch. The customer service is spectacular, interacting with Maya and her crew is like conversing with good friends. Seriously, if you have any jigsaw puzzling interests at all, and I imagine you do or you wouldn’t be reading this in the first place, I cannot imagine your being dissatisfied if you decide to join.

Review: This club is like when you discover the secret business class lounge that all the cool kids are hanging out at before their flights. I just got in myself a month ago and have already gotten to do my first Stave puzzle ever and now have a super big Artifact puzzle on my table that I would never have splurged on.

Review: For many wooden puzzle enthusiasts, there comes a point where you realize that maybe you don’t actually need or want so many puzzles on your shelves, or don’t want to continue purchasing so many puzzles. Well thankfully there is this fantastic alternative, which allows you to choose from a vast library of choices, to spend as much time with each puzzle as you want, and which feels worth every cent of its reasonable membership fee, especially in comparison to how much it would cost to buy as many wooden puzzles as you get to do with the membership. Personally, I feel very lucky that Hoefnagel exists and works so well and that I can take part!

Review: I hand cut puzzles as a hobby, and this is the best thing ever to get a chance to play with some of the best hand-cut puzzles in the world. They got the big boys like Stave and Elms, but also really neat puzzles by all sorts of random puzzle cutters, it's really an incredible selection.
