This is a 367 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle of a large map of San Francisco where different city neighborhoods are denoted by different literary quotes about San Francisco from authors such as Maya Angelou, Thomas Pynchon, and more (illustration by Ian Huebert, quotes collected by San Francisco Chronicle Book Editor John McMurtrie).

This puzzle is a bit on the easy side. The puzzle has a number of San-Francisco-y whimsy pieces and the top edge forms the Golden Gate bridge with drop-out pieces (the other edges are straight). Connectors are mostly small knob connectors with a smattering of letter-shaped connectors.

Puzzle design by Kathryn Flocken and Ben Goldman.  Like all our puzzles, the pieces are laser-cut from 1/4" thick wood. Packaged in a pine wood box.

Review: I love this puzzle. We had originally purchased and completed the smaller version before this larger size was introduced. The larger size allows the marvelous quotations to be enjoyed more fully. We used to live near The City and now are two thousand miles away. This puzzle takes us back and reminds us of the rich literary history, the beautiful geography, the famous districts. But it’s the cutouts and the whimsies that capture the imagination and the soul of the city. A beauty.
