Review: Whew, the very green forest image and irregular edge presented a major challenge! Still, it was beautiful and I'm glad we persevered.

Review: This was my first split tendril puzzle, and I'm not sure I recommend it as a starting point to the style! At 446 pieces, with very little image differentiation in large sections of the puzzle, it's quite a challenge. I eventually resorted to letting my partner sort pieces by shape (everything with three left-turning arms in this row, everything with three right-turning arms in that row…) and then brute-forcing through all appropriately shaped pieces to solve the last of the green at the bottom and left. Very satisfying to finish, but definitely one where renting from Hoefnagel, not owning, was the right choice for me--I don't see myself wanting to do it again in a hurry! Still, if you already know you like split tendrils and found Layers of Afternoon and Crystal Grove too easy, Undergrowth with Two Figures is waiting for you to give you a mental work-out.

Review: One of my favorite Artifact puzzles. Harder than most, yes, but so engaging. I do a lot of puzzles and the split-tendril puzzle pieces are so creative, and it is so great to have a fresh new puzzle challenge. They are now my favorite puzzles. I think this puzzle was a harder than the Crystal Grove, but only because there are more puzzle pieces. The whimsies help start the puzzle and the tree trunks and changes in colors guide you along. I was sad when it was completed.
