We present naturalist Ernst Haeckel's 1899 illustration of 12 hummingbird species as a 262 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle.

The puzzle has irregular piece shapes and connector shapes, and a smattering of themed whimsy pieces by Seattle artist Maria Berg.

The hummingbirds illustrated are: Ruby-throated, Horned Sungem, Crimson Topaz, Red-tailed Comet, Tufted Coquette, Sword-billed, Buff-tailed Sicklebill, Dot-eared Coquette, Omismy petasophora, Hooded Visobearer, Hylocharis stokesii, and the Booted racket-tail.

This puzzle has a straight edge, but is a bit harder than average.

All our puzzles are made of 1/4" thick real wood in the USA.

Review: I own 4 of your puzzles...one was a gift and I have purchased 3 more. The latest one being the hummingbirds which is beautiful! I bought this one in memory of my adult daughter who passed away last year and she loved hummingbirds! The only criticism I have is that the pieces don’t lock together very well and keep shifting. I would like to see them lock together more securely. Other than that, they are a delight to put together. Thank you.

Review: Really, you need to see the colors of this painting/puzzle to appreciate its beauty. It looks beautiful up against Artifact’s two Audubon’s offerings, but this gets the prize for color and movement. And once again, Maria Berg, who brought her creativity to the Audubon pieces, is somehow able to enhance your appreciation of the painting by the design of her cut. Like so many other fine art pieces from Artifact's collection, engaging with the puzzle increases your appreciation for the details of the art. I am often moved to research the art as I assemble the puzzle. My only curiosity is of the artist: how did he get those crazy things to sit still long enough to paint them without a blur? :< P

Review: A beautifully crafted puzzle, whose pieces themselves are works of art. The box is lovely. This makes a terrific gift for a puzzle lover, but make sure you also get one for yourself.
