This 135 piece puzzle of Seurat's 1898 Eiffel Tower painting

This puzzle has a straight edge, and its difficulty is about average.  The puzzle has many Paris-themed whimsy pieces and irregular piece shapes; puzzle design by Seattle artist Maria Berg.

Like all our puzzles, the pieces are laser-cut from 1/4 inch thick wood.

The puzzle image is an 1898 pointillist painting by Georges Seurat. Seurat was influenced by the 19th century new scientific discoveries about color vision to paint with colorful dots that average out to desired colors, a technique that came to be called pointillism, and which is also the basis for most modern color printing (where it is called halftoning). Seurat is perhaps most famous for his pointillist painting Sunday Afternoon on the Island of the Grand Jatte. This painting came just a few years later, and shortly after the Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 for the World's Fair. At the time it was built, it was the tallest tower in the world. Eiffel's plans for the tower had originally been rejected by Barcelona, and the Parisian public at first felt it was an eyesore. Now, of course, it is arguably the most famous icon of Paris.

Review: The Eiffel Tower is out of stock, but I am adding it to my wish list. I have bought four other puzzles from this wonderful company & I LOVE THEM!!! The quality is excellent! They make for the perfect gift.

Review: I just finished working this puzzle (my first artifacts). The whimsies are delightful and putting together a wooden puzzle vs. cardboard is the equivalent of breaking the top of creme brulee vs. flan. It's a treat just to fit the pieces together and the quality just can't be compared. Can't wait to get my next one in.

Review: One of the best values among many from Artifact’s offerings. The painting is romantic and lovely. It even spurs memories of my visits to Paris…though I’ve never actually physically been to the city. And the cut has such beautiful and intricate whimsies, you will be delighted. It is challenging but doable. So lovely.

Review: I love the beautiful image of the Eiffel Tower that Artifact has used to make this charming little puzzle. The quality of the pieces and their unusual shapes, along with the clever design layout, made putting this puzzle together so much fun. There are numerous creative Paris themed whimsies, plus a surprising use of several that wasn't apparent right away....but was revealed upon completion (don't want to spoil the surprise). I've worked this puzzle many times, each time using a different strategy. Sometimes I build around the whimsies, or start with the border, or work by area and/or color. This is a delightful little puzzle that is so much fun to work!
