Ecru Puzzles - Erin Hanson Layers of Afternoon Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle

Ecru Puzzles - Erin Hanson Layers of Afternoon Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle

$ 97.00

This is a 287 piece puzzle of "Layers of Afternoon" by Erin Hanson. This is a split tendril connector puzzle and is kind-of hard: many pieces have almost but not quite exactly the same shape, so be prepared to pay  careful attention to their cut and the art to solve this.  The puzzle design is by Ashley Boyd and includes a modest number of active whimsies. Overall, we think this is "kind-of hard" but not "really hard."

Like all our puzzles, laser-cut from 1/4" thick wood. Packaged in our standard pine wood box. Made in USA (specifically, in Fremont, California).

Review: Impressive! This is a puzzle where form and function brilliantly, beautifully collide! My wife and I have become steadfast players and supporters of Artifact Puzzles--our South Bay business neighbors. Speaking strictly for myself, upon immediately opening the beautifully crafted Wooden box of Erin Hanson's “Layers of Afternoon," the scent of the meticulously cut wooden puzzle pieces transported me into the timeless, natural landscape. Gradually, I felt as though I was walking among the trees in the background of Ms. Hanson's lovely painting. One dynamic and refreshing intricate design within the “Layers of Afternoon” puzzle is the painted imagery of nature directly upon four people-shaped puzzle pieces with unique physical positions. Here, I was genuinely humbled by Artifact Puzzle’s brilliant balance of design of multi-wave, crown-edged pieces depicting the harmony between human beings and the natural environment. Adding to this beautiful and complex geometry of puzzle formation was a meditative state of concentration that lasted many hours. Upon completing this amazing puzzle, and for several days thereafter, my mind was refreshingly focused and vitalized. This is a 3-star Micheline cognitive cuisine. BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO! Erin Hanson's timeless "Layer of Afternoon" wooden jigsaw puzzle is slated to become a treasured heirloom within our family among many generations and for many generations into the future.

Review: Love the artist and have purchased all three Hansons available so far. I love split tendril. This one is nowhere near the exquisite torture of Crystal Grove but is challenging enough. The whimsies made it easier but also added fun as puzzles within a puzzle.

Review: I really loved this puzzle. I love all Artifact puzzles, but this one is my new favorite. I agree with calling it "Kind of hard". I don't look at images when I do a puzzle. Since so many of the pieces are similar, there were times that I realized a piece that fit was in the wrong place. I liked that added challenge as well as the surprise in the puzzle. I'm going to do this one again and again.

Review: This is the perfect puzzle (IMO of course) = a beautiful painting by Erin Hansen and a split tendril design. Split tendril puzzles are now my favorite puzzle designs. The puzzles are usually hard and the pieces fit and click into place so perfectly. I expected this puzzle to be very hard like the other Erin Hansen split tendril puzzle, Crystal Grove, but it wasn't. It moved along after I got it started. I think the main reason is that there are quite a few whimsies and they are rather large. Also, there are whimsies in most of the main color blocks which makes other areas of the puzzle with the same colors easier. Don't get me wrong, it's not easy, its just not hard like the Crystal Grove, Hummingbird and Van Gogh split tendril puzzles. It took me an evening and most of an afternoon to complete it. Great creative puzzle design. I loved every minute of it. Highly recommended.
