This is a 192 piece wooden puzzle of an Indian miniature painting by Miskin from around 1596 (Mughal empire). It depicts the immediate aftermath of a battle, and it is full of characters and color. Its full title is "Tayang Khan Presented with the Head of the Mongol Leader Ong Khan."

(NOTE: the image does show a few decapitated heads, so may not be appropriate for kids.)

The puzzle is very challenging because all the connectors are the same, so one must pay close attention to the image to put it together correctly (and we recommend good light).

The pieces are half-hexagons, and the puzzle has a hexagonal edge.

Like all our puzzles, laser-cut from 1/4" wood and made in USA.

Packaged in a small box with a magnetic clasp.

Review: The geometry of this puzzle totally messed with my head. EVEY TIME I thought I had discerned a pattern, I was wrong. I just couldn’t wrap my head around it. The vivid colors and patterns were the real heroes here. Yes, as someone said “heads will roll” and so will your puzzle pieces; I found myself having to spin the very last two around til I could fit them in. A battle to the very end. To the victor go the spoils! Tough. Fascinating. Beautiful.

Review: The colors are wonderful, so it's a thrill to see the various interlocking vignettes come together. For art historians, this puzzle will refresh your appreciation of stacked perspective. I loved that Artifact did not photograph the edges - the finished puzzle is a nice surprise.
