Wow - a customer shared photos of this wooden jigsaw puzzle they have believed to have been hand-cut 120 years ago by S. S. Porter on a jig saw in 1906!
One thing that stands out right away is the cut. Unlike modern puzzles, this antique puzzle has very few interlocking connectors. Most of the pieces are irregularly shaped and simply fit next to each other, making the puzzle super challenging.
You can also some nice color-line cutting, for example, where the cutter has traced a sheep as he cut. That's an old trick for making a puzzle a lot harder!
Color-line cutting is hard to execute perfectly, and when it's not perfect we think it looks terrible, so we really only have one puzzle with a lot of color-line cutting (our old Four Color Map puzzle - seen below), but check back for more color-line cutting from us in the next year.
