Last night, Jim and I alpha-tested our upcoming 346 piece puzzle Stanton MacDonald Wright's 1955 painting Jeunesse, and we had a rollicking fun time with it!

Spread-out on the table, its bright colored pieces look fantastic and really invite you in:

We asked puzzle designer David Figueiras to put in a lot of abstract piece shapes and an irregular edge inspired by mid-century modernism and the atomic age, here's a closer sneak peek at some of the piece shapes:

Stanton Macdonald-Wright co-founded the early abstract art movement of Synchromism, which tried to arrange colors in a visual symphony, inspired by advances in color science.   This is an outstanding example of Macdonald-Wright's style painted in 1955.  Comedian Steve Martin talks about a similar Stanton MacDonald-Wright painting as one of his favorite things at Moma in this 5 min youtube video.

We've rated this puzzle as average in terms of difficulty - some puzzlers will find this puzzle pretty easy, but it's not quite as easy as it looks because it's harder to pick out the different shades of color than you'd think, and because there are no straight edge pieces (irregular edge).

The puzzle holds together tightly and really draws people in, making this a great puzzle to do with friends & family who aren't avid puzzlers.
