Everyone knows Hoppers NightHawks, but few know his earlier Soir Bleu painting, which has the same sense of characters who have lived too much, their messy lives cast into an almost too-perfect color palette.
We've made Hopper's Soir Bleu as a 168 piece puzzle with a smattering of slightly-ironic whimsies and connectors. In fact, and I hate to say it, but this puzzle might just be too cool for you.
For a fun take on Soir Bleu, check out this 1-page story-caption Robert Owen Butler wrote about it.
Thanks for this. I’ve been puzzling over this image since it was posted. Robert Owen Butler’s take on Hopper’s image goes so beyond the mostly question marks I came up with, that I feel like now I can pretty much put those questions aside and just relax with Hopper’s work…well, at least as relaxed as you can get with such an edgy thing.
