A Festival of Fruit and Flux

Deep in the forest of "The Glitch" strange creatures dance around transfigured travelers. But at this Festival, change is not always a bad thing. Artist Joe Vaux says, “Change can...

You must beware when traveling through the heart of a forest. When each step sinks deep in a rot soaked bed of leaf litter. Where gnarl knotted trunks root deep in the rich black soil.

Tread carefully in the places where mouldering vines fruit sickly sweet berries. Where beauty blooms on sunless mornings and withers under the gaze of living eyes. When the substance of life feeds only on that which can no longer live.

These are places cursed creatures call home. Hunting grounds for the one they call “The Glitch”.

In fact, few who enter her sacrosanct woods have ever escaped… unchanged. The Glitch transfigures lost travelers to fill her carnival of play things and entertain her wicked fascinations. Corrupted and contorted. Morphed and mangled. The Glitch rules over everything that dares set foot in her forest.

However, not all who are changed live their days in misery. Some learn to embrace their transformation and celebrate this new life in the forest. Here we see one such scene of festivity from Joe Vaux’s exhibition: “The Glitch”

As Joe Vaux, the creator of this tortured world describes,  “Change can be a pain in the butt, but if your butt becomes a delicious raspberry, maybe everything will be ok.”

If you enjoy this piece as much as I do and want to dive deeper into The Glitch’s domain, go check out the rest of Vaux’s exhibition over at: https://brassworksgallery.com/collections/joe-vaux-the-glitch

But for now, be wary when wandering in ancient woods, embrace your changes, and happy puzzling!
