Artifact Puzzles - Severin Roesen Flower Still Life Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle

Artifact Puzzles - Severin Roesen Flower Still Life Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle

$ 70.00

This 330 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle features a composition by mid-nineteenth century American painter Severin Roesen who is known for his abundant fruit and flower still life paitings. Flower Still Life was originally painted in 1853 but is given a modern spin by our puzzle designer Tara Flannery. It features a baroque-style puzzle design and a handful of themed whimsy pieces. This challenging puzzle contains dramatic irregular edge curves (there are no straight edge pieces!) and fun repeating multi-piece curvatures that contribute to its difficulty. Like all our puzzles, laser-cut from quarter-inch thick wood. Packaged in a pine wood box with sliding lid. Made in USA.

Review: Fiendish fun! Light on the whimsies but heavy on the compound curves. Thoroughly enjoyable and challenging.

Review: This was a bit too hard for me - even the flower part was hard, and then once I got that part done, I just ran out of steam looking at all the brown edge pieces. About a month later a friend was over and we gave it a go and finished it and it was gorgeous once it was done, but if she hadn't come over I might have just givenup!

Review: Maybe you think you’re not florally but don’t hesitate over this one. Beautiful, gorgeous even, tough, worth every minute of effort. Working this was like being surrounded by really good chocolate. Yum.

Review: It’s even fun just taking the pieces out of their box--like dipping into a dish of mixed nuts. Sorting pieces, marveling at the burnished edges, setting aside the treasured whimsies to enjoy--every piece is a gem. The puzzle is rather dark and I worked it on a dark table. I found it easier to sort the darker pieces onto two sheets of white paper. The bouquet came together first, with the browns (most without a pattern) more of a challenge for me. Tara Flannery’s puzzle design is a joy--surprises everywhere. If you are one who needs to do the border first, forget it. That’s part of this puzzle’s neat challenge. It’s a swirling mirage that will repeatedly fool you. You’ll smile when finally the right piece fits. Clever designer, that Tara.
