Review: I have done a few “Really Hard” Artifact puzzles. This isn’t “really hard” times three, it is more like “really hard” to the 3rd power. I gave up after 2 hours and I typically finish an Artifact puzzle at a rate of two pieces per minute. With this puzzle I may have fit 24 pieces in 120 minutes. Not to complain, but explain, I would expect radial (circular) parts of the web to indicate a direction. The horizontal parts should droop. Rotate the box until all web parts droop to detect which way is down and I was not be successful. It would be grand to know which parts belongs on what part of a clock face as it were. That technique was amazing unproductive. One can use the “tightness” of closeness of the web strands to estimate distance from the center. The further from the web center the wider the spacing. I did find the web center and place maybe 15 pieces around it. I tried matching the green web with orange dots and fitting the pieces, or the two red threads with yellow dots. (As examples) It is very slow going. The strand colors constantly change and grouping by strand color was amazing unproductive. There is one whimsical piece, the spider, which one can build around. I sorted pieces in to three categories: Pure web, web and wreath and all black. As best I can tell don’t expect a regular edge either. One could try to work on the wreath but I did not bother. There are those people who choose to sail around the earth solo in a 14’ skiff. Some people jump out of perfectly good airplanes. Some folks like to surf with great white sharks just off shore. This puzzle is far more difficult than I anticipated, and I own 130 Artifact puzzles. If you must do this puzzle you already know who you are and I shall not try to talk you out of it. Artifact has a brand new standard for their most difficult puzzle.

Review: Wish the spiders in my garage weaved webs this wonderful! Puzzle-wise this was a bit of a doozy - the pieces are black with floral detail, but the blackness of the piece backgrounds makes harder to "see" the connectors - we ended up getting some white paper out of the printer to make for more contrast, and that made it a lot easier to see the edges. I like puzzles that have a nice steady pace, and this one was evenly pretty hard, but it was almost --too hard-- for me, but it was alluring to sit with even when it took me minutes to find the next piece. Proud to say we did complete it over a couple days, and Im leaving it out on the table for a while because it's fun to look at and Im hoping my resident spiders learn something from it!
