Artifact Puzzles - Rachell Sumpter Islander Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle

$ 83.00

This is a 262 piece laser-cut wooden jigsaw puzzle of "Islander" by Rachell Sumpter. The image is a muted blend of colors punctuated by miniature details of a migrating people. The design for this puzzle by the duo of Amy Tang and Danny Song utilizes bigger, more elaborate pieces with huge variety in both its "normal" interlocking pieces and themed whimsies. If you think most puzzles have too many right angles, the unusual pieces and irregular border make this a great puzzle for you. Its overall difficulty is about average. Like all our puzzles, made with 1/4" thick wood and the pieces are laser-cut. Packaged in our standard pine wood box. Made in the USA (specifically, in Fremont, California).

Review: Updated Review! I noticed that this beautiful "Islander" puzzle has been lingering on the site for quite awhile. I hope that my previous review hasn't put a damper on your consideration of purchasing this one. The cut of the puzzle pieces is very top notch...and they are BIGGER pieces. I categorize this one as my "Rainbow Sherbet Delight". It has a nice summertime feel. Might need that on a cold snowy day this winter. It is a unique puzzle and well worth taking the plunge. Please reconsider, if you have been on the fence about this one!!!

Review: I agree with Marilyn's review of this puzzle. I too, was disappointed at the dullness and lack of vibrant crispness of the artwork. I am totally fine the the background resembles melted rainbow sherbet...it is the canoes and the people that let me down. They are lost in the scene. Washed out and not at all like the online preview. I did give my rating one more star because the jigsaw cut of the pieces is phenomenal. This is truly the first Artifact puzzle that let me down. Not a total loss, but not what I eagerly anticipated.

Review: Love the image and the unique pieces are wonderfully designed! The abstract pieces fill the image well and the edge is fun. It's going to be one of those puzzles I can do over and over again.

Review: I love Artifact Puzzles and have accumulated many too many of them since March. This is one I had really looked forward to because the art is so vibrant. But be warned, the art as it appears on the puzzle is very different from the photo of the art. Instead of being bright and exciting it looks as though the image has been through the washer a few too many times. The colors are faded and the canoes and people blend into the background. It lacks the crispness that the photo led me to expect. The puzzle itself is OK. Loved the edge. Would characterize the rest as easy/medium.
