This is a 110 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle of Pablo Picasso's 1922 painting "The Stranded Fish." The puzzle design by Jef Bambas has just one whimsy piece, and mini-hex pieces that can fit into multiple places, but because the image is kind of easy, overall the puzzle is only average-hard. Like all our puzzles, made with 1/4" thick wood and the pieces are laser-cut. Packaged in a small blue box with a magnetic clasp. Made in USA.

Review: Artifact makes only 4-5 hex based jigsaw puzzles that come to mind, “Munch - the Scream” and “Geoffrey Gersten - In Dreams” quickly come to mind and both are a challenge. In general hex based puzzles with six ways any piece can fit are more difficult than grid based puzzles. This fun puzzle is about the same size and piece count as “In Dreams” but with clear areas delineated I found it much more straight forward than other hex puzzles with vague areas of pastel hues going every which way. It only has one whimsical piece, which in theory makes the puzzle harder but with the simple color zones you should not need a whole lot of help. This is a fun quick puzzle one person can finish in about 90 minutes. It is an excellent choice for a started puzzle if you have never done a hex design puzzle before.
Review: This was a lot of fun but, honestly, way too easy. I wish the pieces had been smaller (i.e., more pieces for the size of the puzzle with less detail on each piece). I assembled this like a mystery puzzle....had put the picture out of sight. Maybe it would have been tougher if I'd been searching a picture for exact brush strokes. But I find doing little puzzles as mystery puzzles make them more relaxing and enjoyable. Thank you, Artifact, for starting up the true mystery puzzle line...I'm a fan.
