This 91 piece wooden puzzle is a map of 16th century Venice. We believe it dates to 1565, and is by Bolognino Zaltieri.
To make this puzzle suitably challenging for adults, most of the connectors are interchangeable and the pieces are square, so you must pay careful attention to the image (the difficulty rating is "really hard"). The puzzle also features a whimsy piece of the famous Lion of St. Mark, a symbol of Venice.

This is such a gorgeous and fun little puzzle. Maybe you’re having the kind of day where you could use a little distraction but just don’t feel up to diving brain first into the weeds of a larger, tougher puzzle. Old Venice Map is the perfect kind of puzzle to have on reserve for just such a day. It has a beautiful, soothing image and is tough enough to keep your attention focused for a little while without fear of frustration. Plus! it’s a great way to visit ‘the most beautiful city in the world’ without adding to it’s over-touristification.

This was my 2nd Artifact Puzzle (I did de Myle's Noah's Ark first - see my review). This puzzle is very similar with it in design and difficulty. For me, a magnifying glass was used to double-check the fine details along the edges to make sure the piece was in the correct spot. Even so, I had to change a couple of pieces around during the 2 hour adventure I went on during the construction of this puzzle. Sometimes, just the littlest piece of a sail is all you have to insure the proper connection. While some may not find the theme very interesting, if you want a good challenge and only want to spend $22, this may be just the puzzle for you! One last thing I have not mentioned in my reviews - I love the quality of the blue vinyl puzzle boxes, especially the magnetic clasp. Just that feature alone is an indication of the importance of quality and presentation that goes into every Artifact puzzle.
