Artifact Puzzles - Severin Roesen Flower Still Life Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle

$ 74.00

This 330 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle features a composition by mid-nineteenth century American painter Severin Roesen who is known for his abundant fruit and flower still life paintings. Flower Still Life was originally painted in 1853 but is given a modern spin by our puzzle designer Tara Flannery. It features a baroque-style puzzle design and a handful of themed whimsy pieces. This puzzle contains dramatic irregular edge curves (there are no straight edge pieces!) and fun repeating multi-piece curvatures which, together with the mostly-monochromatic border, contribute to its difficulty (its difficulty rating is "kind of hard"). Like all our puzzles, laser-cut from quarter-inch thick wood. Packaged in a pine wood box with sliding lid. Made in USA.

Review: What a lovely masterpiece of a puzzle! A light and a dark side, symmetry, elegant curves, and Tara Flannery’s magical touch - just challenging enough that I didn’t finish it the same day but savored it over two days. This puzzle is one that stays together well as you work it and demands that you use color and shape in about equal amounts to solve the puzzle. Very few whimsies in this one but the patterning in the cuts is brilliant and would not have worked as well if Tara had put more whimsies in.

Review: Really fun shapes of the pieces. Very clever puzzle designer. Fun for a weekend with four adults.

Review: For sheer cut, this puzzle is extraordinary. When I assembled this puzzle I had no idea what the frame looked like. I know there is some debate as to whether not to reveal the puzzle shape, but it was extraordinary fun not to know where this puzzle was flowing. But even though you have seen the shape, enjoy the meditative quality of assembling the puzzle. This one is rigorous but accessible. It is exquisite.

Review: Fiendish fun! Light on the whimsies but heavy on the compound curves. Thoroughly enjoyable and challenging.

Review: This was a bit too hard for me - even the flower part was hard, and then once I got that part done, I just ran out of steam looking at all the brown edge pieces. About a month later a friend was over and we gave it a go and finished it and it was gorgeous once it was done, but if she hadn't come over I might have just givenup!
