This 150 piece puzzle has Van Gogh's painting Wheat Field Behind Saint Paul Hospital on one-side, and Van Gogh's painting Les Vessenot a Auver on the other side. The two paintings have similar color palettes. Combined with an irregular edge (no straight edge), this is a challenging small puzzle.

NOTE: The irregular edge is not shown in the image on the box!

The pieces were designed by Tara Flannery with earlet and horse-head connectors, a sprinkling of farm-themed whimsy pieces, and for you geometry-nuts out there: the pieces form a Cairo pentagonal tiling

Like all our puzzles, the puzzle is made of laser-cut 1/4" thick wood. Made in USA. Packaged in a small box with a magnetic clasp.

Review: I agree with you Carol: not as difficult as we might think. My little hesitation was about the red roof, otherwise it was pretty obvious to figure it out which side to flip, because the color divide is clear. You get used to the zigzag of the edges and start to anticipate the pattern. It really shows how our brain can adapt and enjoy new tasks.

Review: Great puzzle! This was the Christmas gift from my family in 2016 and probably the most challenging Artifact puzzle I've done. The edge pattern means it is difficult to identify whether a piece is an edge piece or not by the shape alone and then there is the double-sided aspect to kick the difficulty level up another notch. I do these puzzles more than once anyway, so the double sides make it two puzzles in one for fun over and over again. The first time I did this one I assembled it on a large bamboo cutting board and was able to lay a second board on top to flip it over and see the other side. Just a suggestion! And for a bonus I got to see the original Wheat Field with Cypresses at the Metropolitan Museum of Art this summer - gorgeous. As always, these puzzles are great pleasers with the tactility of the thick wooden pieces and the art of the cut to complement the beautiful art selections. Fun to do with a friend or two ... or for some quiet time alone.

Review: I thought it would be more difficult than it is. It is a challenge, even if you know the puzzle to guess which pieces belong to which side. There are many connectors that have horses heads and legs on them, but even if you can't guess which is the correct side, eventually, you will figure it out and flip a piece or two or three or four. And then you can break it apart and try doing the other side! This is a fun puzzle, good to do on your own or as a group. It has an unusual edge and people are scared and intimidated by the double sided quality, but thank goodness, it is a small puzzle, and not utterly impossibly baffling. Definitely, a puzzle that we will enjoy and do again and again for years!
