Ecru Puzzles - Mystery Puzzle #9

$ 53.00

For serious jigsaw puzzlers only: this 223 piece mystery wooden jigsaw puzzle does not come with a picture on the box (though the image is hidden inside the box in case you need to sneak a peek, or want to label the puzzle box afterwards.)

The image is vintage Halloween art re-purposed by Jennifer L. Carson, and while the image is not targeted at kids, it should be okay-for-kids, but is more just spooky in a vintage and Hitchcock-ian way than a kid-way.

The puzzle design by Jef Bambas has many Halloween-themed whimsies, and it is average hard.  Our Ecru Puzzles line is characterized by a closer cut and a matte finish to reduce glare.  Like all our puzzles, made of 1/4" thick laser-cut wood and made in the USA. Packaged in our standard blue box with a magnetic clasp.

Review: Was given this puzzle as a Christmas gift. Two of my daughters and I lit into it the same day. Very clever with the puzzle pieces in the shapes of bats, Halloween cats, pumpkins, ghosts, etc. It took us an exhilarating 2.25 hours to complete without the aid of even a peek at the picture. Very fun. If you're a puzzle enthusiasts this one will not disappoint.

Review: Not normally a puzzler person, but we received this for a gift and had a blast putting it together. Whimsical piece shapes added to the enjoyment. And since it was our first, the size was perfect. First timers, do this one first!

Review: Drove us "batty", but this was a great puzzle. We did not look at the picture first, and it took two people nearly four hours to do it with a couple of short breaks. You might actually be able to complete it faster on your own, having two people was not a real advantage. You can put several pieces together that look correct at first glance but later you can tell you made a mistake. Great artwork, really great whimsy pieces, we were very impressed with this puzzle.The picture is from the art deco age if I had to guess, and was probably a Halloween postcard at one time. It measures about 12"x9" when completed. Like almost all Artifact puzzle, I wish the overall dimensions and piece size were just a bit bigger. The cost of wood is not that much, I would have loved to see this puzzle and its pieces at least 10% bigger.

Review: I peeked, so sue me. It was still a grueling 3 hour fight. Puzzle has “non-unique- pieces” meaning the right piece will fit in the wrong place almost all the time. The good news is the matrix is directional so one can correctly orient all the pieces. This is the perfect Halloween Puzzle, nostalgic; tame, charming by any measure. This puzzle has one irregular edge. It actually has ample detail and an internal frames and borders to use as help when piecing together. I made mess out of this puzzle, I ran out of room placing loose pieces on one puzzle tray; so I placed about 20 pieces on a second tray and forgot about the second tray. I was less than successful completing the puzzle with out the missing pieces. It was Monday night football;at the second half two minute warning, and I got out of bed when I remembered the second tray and was done in no time. The Steelers whooped asp on Miami, even with out my help. This puzzle may be experts only for those who will never peek, for most of us who will peek this is a very fun, tricky, campy delight. In general fish out the red pieces first and figure where they go. Then figure out the mice, cat, mirror, broom, pumpkins shadow and wood frame and thick border and you are done. I had great fun which is the measure of any puzzle, even after Halloween I can highly recommend this puzzle.

Review: I just finished doing this puzzle and it was so much fun. Trying to figure out what the picture was as it was being reveled was cool and when we finally got the picture it was such a beautiful piece. And the twist of the puzzle cut was so clever (and slightly irritating in a good way). I do wish there were a larger version as this one was done too soon.
