Ecru Puzzles - Roch Urbaniak Ulthar Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle

This circular wooden jigsaw puzzle has 136 pieces and features a mystical cosmic landscape with cat, painted by the Polish painter Roch Urbaniak.

The puzzle design by Tara Flannery is really hard for its piece count, because it has irregular split tendril connector pieces on a circular grid, just one whimsy piece, and in a few places it can be hard at first to tell if you have a piece in the right place.

But the clean circular edge and varying image detail keep this from being ridiculously hard. It's a good first split tendril connector puzzle if you've been curious to try that style of puzzling.

Like all our puzzles, laser-cut from 1/4" thick wood.

Packaged in a blue box with magnetic clasp.

Made in USA.

Note: This was formerly Mystery Puzzle #26 and the puzzle for the March 2023 Fog Town Toys Speed Contest.

11" x 11" when completed.

Manufacturer recommended age: 15 years and up

Review: Having previously done Crystal Grove (that was my first split tendril puzzle), my reaction to this one is even more appreciation for just how difficult Crystal Grove is - this one was extremely doable in contrast, it took me only about 1.5 hours to solve. Originally I got it for my parents because I was trying to describe the difficulty of split tendril puzzles & why Crystal Grove was so hard, and they were able to solve it too (they took several days to complete it, but they don't really do jigsaw puzzles). I think if this had been my first split tendril (as recommended, and I would concur) it would've taken a bit longer.

Review: We don't work a lot of mystery puzzles as we prefer to know what we are working but we took a chance on this one. We didn't peak at the image and WOWZA it was hard for its size. Loved the connectors in this one and the challenge they provided.

Review: This puzzle was a lot of fun to put together. I love split tendrils and found this one to be easier than the level mentioned. The artwork was appealing and perfect for a mystery puzzle, as far as I'm concerned. (Some of the mystery ones in the past have been too intricate for me to be able to finish without cheating.) I would probably have bought this one even if I'd seen a picture first (not something I can say about all of the previous ones...just most of them). I'll be waiting for #27. 😀
