Ecru Puzzles - Franz Marc Cat Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle

Ecru Puzzles - Franz Marc Cat Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle

$ 59.00

This is a 138 piece Ecru wooden jigsaw puzzle of Franz Marc's "Cat". The puzzle pieces are extra fancy and extra big so they don't break (see photos above).

Our Ecru puzzles line is characterized by a closer cut and a matte finish to reduce glare. The post-impressionist art is paired with a design by Tara Flannery that has many similar artistic pieces, just a few whimsies, and an irregular edge.

Due to this puzzle's non-unique connectors, it is a very hard puzzle. Like all our puzzles, made of 1/4" thick laser-cut wood and made in the USA. Packaged in our standard pine wood box.

Review: When I first pulled this out of the box I thought it was going to be really difficult (and possibly a little boring/frustrating) with all the pieces being interchangeable. But, there was enough color variety and low enough piece count to make the discovery of finding the fits satisfying and relatively quick. I didn't realize it was a cat themed puzzle until after I started, and this made seeing the seeing the image at the end a cute surprise to finish with. With this puzzle more than others it's cool that the whimsies fit with each other as opposed to just relying on differently cut "ordinary" pieces.

Review: Put on your reading glasses & crank up the bright lights! The at times subtle color shifts & repeating, interlocking pieces result in a satisfying experience for the observant or frustration for the inattentive.

Review: Amazing brilliant colors on every piece, this was a joy to look at. The spiral shape pieces and cat whimsies combined with the saturated colors create a sense of movement and playfulness. I found the puzzle ifficult but not frustrating, completing it solo in about 3 hours. A keen eye for color is needed, since pieces fit together perfectly without being in the right spot. I will definitely enjoy re-doing this puzzle and I recommend this as a perfect gift for all cat-fanciers.

Review: So thankful I purchased several Artifact puzzles before the quarantine! This puzzle looked pretty simple, but raised another element of skill required for completion. Most puzzle pieces go into one spot only...these pieces could be exchanged in many cases, requiring good lighting and an eye for color transition. Really enjoyed the challenge, and the puzzle is far more beautiful in person!

Review: This was formerly Ecru Mystery Puzzle #5 which is how I purchased it. With Mystery puzzles, one is supposed to try the puzzle without looking at the illustration on the box. On my first attempt I gave up, all of the puzzle shapes are weird. It is very imitating to dump out a box load of these “intertwined” pieces when one does not know what the finished puzzle looks like. This puzzle also features “non-unique- pieces” meaning that almost any piece will fit almost anywhere. It will fit but not be right. One of many reasons this puzzle is rated “Really Hard” by Artifact. Allow 4.5 hours for only 138 pieces which gives one an idea of difficulty. I braced my self, put on my war face and tried again and the puzzle won me over, with the cheat that on the second attempt I looked at the illustration. Sort out the blue tree pieces first and you will be well on your way. There is a sense of intensity when working this puzzle and a feeling of accomplishment when done; if you take your puzzles seriously I can’t highly recommend this puzzle enough.
