Artifact Puzzles - Small Four Color Map Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle

This 67 piece wooden puzzle has no picture - the pieces themselves are the puzzle. An added twist: there are only four different colors of pieces, and no two adjacent pieces are the same color (mathematically speaking, it illustrates the Four Color Map Theorem (see wikipedia for details)). This abstract puzzle style is inspired by a design and cut-style of master-handcutter John Stokes III.  The pieces were designed by Seattle artist Tara Flannery. We expect this puzzle to take 1-4 hours for the average puzzling adult. All our puzzles are made of 1/4" wood and laser-cut in the USA. Packaged in a small box with a magnetic clasp.

  • 67 pieces

Review: An interesting puzzle experience! Some of the pieces were a tight fit, unusual for Artifacts.

Review: Very unusual puzzle that I like. My puzzle partners find it a bore. I have a science math background and it is a favorite of mine.

Review: I had to wait a long time for this to come back into stock, but it did not disappoint. I love shape-based puzzling, and the wildly varied pieces here are a delight to match up. The irregular border really keeps you guessing too, because you're never quite sure if there actually is a match to a piece or if it's the outer edge. The perfect puzzle to do in low-light conditions. I can and have done this one again and again.

Review: Whenever I would come across this puzzle while browsing the Artifact website, I would think to myself, “No way!” I like to work at my own pace, relaxing and leisurely enjoying my puzzle time. I do not want something that causes me to pull out my hair in frustration. Don’t get me wrong. I do like a challenge...in moderation. Well, I finally decided at least to read the reviews for this one. To my delight, I found them very favorable and downright encouraging. But there was one review that really caught my attention. It got me believing that I, too, might be able to solve this puzzle. So I took a chance and bought it, adding yet another Artifact puzzle to my modest, but growing collection. What can I say about it? Lots of fun! A very colorful, very enjoyable puzzle! It was a risk worth taking. Already, I’ve put it together more than once after buying it just a few days ago (May 2022). Definitely 5 STARS!!!
