Review: For a small puzzle, a little tricky but very satisfying

Review: What I love about Artifact/Ecru puzzles, is that I get to discover painters. Here, an American painter from the 19th century, mostly known for his portraits. Well, here his strawberries are stunning, the firm juiciness perfectly rendered with the glossy finish of the puzzle. As for the puzzle itself, it's a difficult one. Some pieces are relatively small (compared to other puzzles of the same maker) and...a strawberry is a strawberry is a strawberry. Once I had sorted out 1) curlicues pieces for the framing 2) light and dark reds for the strawberries 3) different browns for the background 4) greens for the leaves, I started a slow Cinderella's process: trying to fit some pieces together until they match. A gorgeous image and a couple of hours of tinkering around: all good!

Review: I feel I sound less than sincere these days proclaiming every new puzzle a favorite, but so be it. This puzzle is beautiful. It was challenging since there really is no way to group the pieces. I just had to start making random connections and build. Although the puzzle is small, the pieces are also small and intricate, so it provides a nice challenge. The price point makes the puzzle a real bargain. A soothing piece. It delights the memory of the senses.

Review: This is a lovely little puzzle. I hadn't seen a photo of the fancy edge before completing it, and I recommend doing it without peeking -- much more fun! The piece shapes are complex and the puzzle is initially difficult but once several pieces come together the process speeds up. It took about 2 hours to complete in one sitting.
