This 152 piece puzzle is a map of the famous neighborhoods of San Francisco (Chinatown, the Presidio, Haight-Ashbury, etc.), with each neighborhood marked by a different San Francisco-related quote by famous authors such as Mark Twain, Thomas Pynchon, Maya Angelou, etc. The map was created by Ian Huebert (based on excerpts selected by John McMurtrie). The puzzle has many San Francisco-themed whimsy pieces (see the alternate product photos for example puzzle pieces), designed by Kathryn Flocken. Its difficulty rating is easier than average. All our puzzles are laser-cut 1/4" wood. This puzzle is made in Fremont, California, in the SF Bay Area. Packaged in a blue cardboard box with a magnetic clasp.

Review: Be warned this image also comes in a much larger puzzle size by artifact. This is one of the smaller boxed, petite artifact puzzles I’ve seen. Not sure they haven’t moved it to a larger box by the time you read this. But was a size were you could take it traveling with you easily and work on a small surface. I love the piece shapes of this puzzle and picture even though it’s a lot of text. It’s challenging yet fun to put together since you can kind of tell which way to text is going yet the cut placements make it challenging. If you have any affection for San Francisco and the cultural references the map contains, it will remind you of those things as you’re working it. My partner wasn’t so keen on it because he likes puzzles that take longer to do and have more classic artwork on them. But I have explained why I will not be passing this puzzle on for my collection!
