Review: I did not finish this one. Too many solid green and orange pieces with the same connectors. The cut allowed the wrong pieces to fit together, very frustrating.

Review: Forecast Says Rain is packed full of fun-filled picnic goings on. The colors are bright and the puzzle-piece shapes are friendly. In fact, you might think the kids could do this one. Think again. I’ll preface this by saying that I try to make sure I never really look at the painting before or during putting together a puzzle. I’ll look at it when I get the box, briefly again when I’m ready to do the puzzle, but never study the painting nor do I refer to it while solving. I also tend to work in short blocks of time--maybe 15 minutes, at the most. Having said that, this puzzle sat on the table for months. I just couldn’t really get it going. There were soooo many orange heads; a few pieces that fit perfectly in shape and color, but didn’t really belong… I finally broke down and looked at the painting (about a half-a-dozen different times). The puzzle finally started coming together--I was on a roll. By the end, the final 25% of the pieces quickly fell in place. I have to say I’ve never spent that long on a puzzle. (Keep in mind, I’m older; maybe the brain is ready to shuffle on out.) Not only the whimsy pieces, but also the cut designs that you see in the finished puzzle go together to make Madan’s delightful picnic, Forecast Says Rain, a fun challenge.
