Another beautiful puzzle from Artifact PuzzlesMay 26, 2011
By Thomist Reader
"xyzzy"
I have now done several of the Artifact wooden puzzles, including this "Wolf Rider" puzzle, but everything I say about this can be said about the others. Many are small (which is perfect for me), but nevertheless challenging. To make it even more challenging I do not look at the picture. The pieces fit together perfectly and the resulting pictures are beautiful, so I keep the puzzles "up" for a few days to look at the art.
I intend to keep these puzzles for life, so my grandchildren can work on them. In fact I think of these puzzles as perfect for school-aged children as they will like the challenge and will be fascinated by the beauty of the pictures. Shortly, I am going to start "Cats," which, at 250+ pieces, will be the most challenging of the Artifact Puzzles that I have done so far.
Oh, a word about the pieces, which are cut into exotic shapes. At first I thought that would make the puzzle very easy, but sometimes the shapes can fool you. I'm still of two minds on that issue--I find the shapes interesting and fun to work with, but I think they may make the puzzle easier. I am still trying to decide, though.
