Great Puzzle for Adults/ older kidsMar 04, 2010 This is a Great puzzle. It is challenging to put together -- so not for young kids. It is made well with a lot of fun "whimsie" pieces.

Puzzle rubs off on you.May 21, 2009 I just recieved my August Macke "Window Shopping" 312 piece puzzle from Artifact Puzzles. I rated this product a little low because the way that it is manufactured leaves the puzzles smelling very very bad. The puzzle is cut with a laser that burns out the pattern.
Pros: The puzzle is shipped in a nice pine box with a sliding top. The pieces are 1/4 inch plywood. The colors are vibrant. The cut of the puzzle is interesting, and includes some themed puzzle pieces. I especially liked the difficulty of this puzzle, it was a good bit harder than a typical 300pc puzzle. There were lots of cool trick pieces in this puzzle.
Cons: The puzzle is burned out with a laser and it smells a little burned. The pieces do not fit as tightly as a high quality cardboard puzzle.
UPDATE: Artifact has recently upgraded to a higher-quality non-chemical plywood. I tried out a second puzzle and I was quite impressed by the improvement in the feel of the pieces and the puzzle arrived in a much cleaner and nicer condition. I am updating my review and giving them back a star based on this. The new puzzles still have a woody smell, but it is not the unpleasant chemical smell that I originally reviewed here. Also, I was pleased to find that the design of the puzzle cut-out is completely different and unique to each puzzle they offer.
