BY FAR my favorite Artifact puzzle so far................May 16, 2012
By eggo How to say this.... first off I want to say how totally addicted I am to these lovely puzzles.. they are truly all a piece of art. I own 4 Artifact puzzles now. I have a small one, a medium one, and two large ones. Maybe I should tell you which ones I have so that when I start to 'sort of' complain about one you won't get the wrong idea. I have the Queen knighting the Knight, I have the Sleeping Beauty one, I have the Hunting Rabbit riding the Turtle one, and I have the Skeleton's on the pirate ships one. All of them are beautifully made, no complaints there.. and the smell of the wood always brings me back to being up in northern Wisconsin... in Door County in the winter.
Now traditionally you pick out a puzzle for the picture on it... but I've come to the conclusion that with Artifact puzzles the most important thing 'for me' is not the picture, but the unique cut of the pieces. With that being said.. I was very pleased with my puzzle choices so far... until........ I got a new one for Mother's Day.
I was sooo excited to open the wooden box and peel back the tissue paper.... but then my eyes fell on.. what's this??? Ordinary looking puzzle pieces... all over the place. I must say my heart dropped just a tiny bit... I knew this was not going to be a puzzle full of unique pieces. I don't know why that bothered me... but it did.
Now I'll tell you which puzzle it was... it was the new Skeletons with the pirate ships one. Sure there were several fish shaped pieces, and a bone, a bottle, and a few others... but most of the pieces were looking pretty 'normal'. Don't get me wrong.. the puzzle is still lovely! The picture is crystal clear.. you can see every single bone in the skeleton's little bodies...every finger... and I do love it, I really do. I do appreciate the time and the work that went into making it, and it was fun to put together.
Okay.. so that was my tiny complaint.
Now on to the heavenly praise!!! I can't believe there aren't any reviews for the Hunting Rabbit Riding the Turtle puzzle.. it's 'A' mazing...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERY SINGLE PIECE is a work of art in itself... I spent LOTS of time just staring at the pieces, picking them up, fondling them. They are mind-blowing!!!!!!! 300 twisted, pointy, jagged imaginary things that will make your eyes pop and your jaw drop.. they are soooooo lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's BY FAR my favorite Artifact puzzle so far................
