Artifact PuzzlesJul 06, 2009 This 54 piece puzzle is of Franz Marc's 1912 painting. Unlike a hand cut wooden jigsaw puzzle (or a cardboard puzzle), this piece exhibits a number of figural-style pieces with radial symmetry (4, 6 or 8) that interact nicely. Given that there are only 54 pieces, having 7 radial figurals, feels a bit much and makes the design a bit easy to put together. However, it is a nice demonstration of something that would be challenging for most hand cut puzzles and is interesting. Also, almost every interlock on this puzzle is of a different variety and due to the number of figurals, the piece size is highly variable.

Awesome puzzleJun 18, 2009 This jigsaw puzzle was probably the best and most fabulous puzzle I have ever done. I never wanted to call myself a puzzle addict, too much like dear old grandma, but if I can do puzzles like this, I am willing.
At first glance I knew this was not an ordinary puzzle, its intricate carving awed me. Normally I wouldn't do a puzzle with that few pieces or that picture, but this jigsaw is an exception. Laying out the individual section of the puzzle, drawing my fingers gently over them -- I was afraid to break such beautiful artwork -- I could see that each little part of the puzzle, part of a whole, was complete within itself. Each fraction had its own solid colors, weaved together to make a abstract suggestion, making you think of what you love best. Each piece had its own story.
I loved the way that the pieces were shaped. All the separate slivers had a unique pattern, such mastery I have never seen in all my years of solving puzzles. The way that they fit together, it was like silk or water, the way it flowed into one another. Before I started the puzzle I just had to admire each and every piece's shape. Not only was this jigsaw gorgeous, but it was a challenge. Hard, but not to the point where you get so frustrated that you don't want to look at it anymore. No where close to being a child's play-toy either. It didn't take me that long to finish, but that is probably because I couldn't stop. I highly recommend this puzzle to anyone and everyone.
