| | | Description: | | This 263 piece puzzle is an illustration of the Battle of Mazandaran, and is part of the Hamzanam, a manuscript telling the Adventures of Hamza, the uncle of the founder of Islam, Mohammed. The Hamzanam manuscript was created during the rule of the 16th century Moghul emperor Akbar. Scholars believe the faces in the picture were scratched out at some point by iconoclasts, and then repainted in another era. The puzzle pieces evoke a geometric mosaic, and were designed by Seattle artist Maria Berg (click on the small images underneath the puzzle picture to see example pieces for this puzzle). Made in USA with 1/4" thick wood and packaged in a wood box. Warning: puzzle pieces are a choking hazard for small children. | | | Features: | |

Beautiful wooden puzzleJan 22, 2011
By rkbca Another fantastic puzzle from Artifact Puzzles. I really enjoyed putting it together. Colors are vibrant. The pieces fit together into nice geometric patterns; different patterns in different sections of the puzzle. I have never encountered another puzzle with a similar cut; kudos to the designer. I suggest assembling it without reference to the picture. Highly recommended.

Great giftJan 11, 2011
By christa barnell Some of the spiraling puzzle pieces alone are so lovely they could be made into jewelry (Not that I would). It comes in a heavy duty wooden box that makes for a handsome gift. Your visual reference for putting the puzzle together is small but if it were any larger it would probably make the feat too easy. The historical art itself is unique among jigsaw puzzles I think. It's expensive for a puzzle but a nice keep sake.
