| | | Description: | | Our 277 piece Dragon Mountain wooden jigsaw puzzle painting is by Washington illustrator Bryn Barnard. This is a great puzzle to put together as a family.
It features Asian-themed multi-piece figurative whimsy pieces designed by Seattle graphic artist Jimmy Farmer: find the ninja, dragon, footbridge, kanji, towers, samurai, toad, helmut, and panda (click on the small image below the big image above to see example puzzle pieces).
All our puzzles are made of 1/4" wood. Comes packaged in an unfinished pine wooden box.

High Tech Wooden Jigsaw PuzzleAug 29, 2009

The Bryn Barnard Dragon Mountain wooden jigsaw puzzle, created by Artifacts, just arrived at our home. We couldn't wait, and sat down together to put it together. This product surpassed our already high expectations. It is a wooden jigsaw puzzle produced with high-tech laser technology, which makes it much more affordable than hand-cut wooden puzzles. This puzzle (like all wooden puzzles I have experienced) has a heft and texture that is wonderfully satisfying. The pieces are crisply cut and fit together seamlessly. One fun part: if you examine the backs of the pieces, you can see the "burn" effects of the laser heat...and yet the puzzle image on the top is absolutely perfect.
The web site doesn't do justice to the actual Dragon Mountain artwork. The image is exquisite, much more detailed and colorful than the web pictures convey.
Level of difficulty is of course a personal judgment. We found it to be a great blend: offering serious challenge, while providing hope and incentive to push on. With nearly three hundred pieces, it kept us going for a couple of days!
We highly recommend this puzzle, and this new laser-cutting technology. We have already ordered our next batch! We are very excited that this new company, Artifacts, has produced such a high quality product that is affordable to the appreciative consumer. We look forward to seeing their upcoming designs and having many more hours of fun with their "whimsical" pieces and beautiful artwork.

Favorite Artifact Puzzle - Dragon MountainJan 21, 2012

I have put this puzzle together several times with my son, who is now 10. We have several Artifact puzzles, but both agree this one is our favorite. As always, the artwork is beautiful, but the hidden features of the dragon is what makes this puzzle fun for young and old. Lots of vibrant colors, entertaining puzzle shapes, and the fantasy of what it would be like to live near Dragon Mountain make this a wonderful experience, time after time.

Artifact Puzzles are made of wood, with a satisfying feel and a fine fit. If you've never tried a wooden jigsaw puzzle before, it's a real treat. The pieces come in a wonderful variety of shapes instead of the usual "innies and outies" jigsaw pieces, and some of the shapes are thematic -- you'll come across a piece shaped like a little ninja dude, for example.
This puzzle's image is a fun fantasy image. I solved it over Christmas with my family and everyone loved it. The colors are bright and cheerful, there's a lot of nice detail (not visible in the product images), and the printing is excellent. You can't help but smile when you look at it.
If you haven't tried any of Artifact Puzzles' offerings, this is an excellent place to start -- joyful, lots of variety, and not too hard.

Artifact Puzzles are awesome - incredible quality, great images, and clever piece design (this one has a few nasty false edges as well as amusing shapes with a tool theme (giant screw etc). We've done it several times and bought a second box as a present (which was a great hit in that family as well).

We have this puzzle at home. It is very entertaining. This puzzle also builds family bonding. If you don't like the dragon castle picture there are other pictures too. But for all of the puzzles, the final product is BEAUTIFUL!! Don't worry, though, if you break or lose a piece they can get replaced. Over all, these puzzles are beautiful, amazing, and entertaining!!
