Artifact Puzzles - Daniel Merriam Man in the Moon Limited Edition Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle
|CHOKING HAZARD -- Small parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.|
This is a 357 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle of one of Daniel Merriam's most beloved images. This is a numbered limited edition of 2000 puzzles, with the limited edition number engraved on the back of the wood box lid. The puzzle pieces were designed by Tara Flannery and have bubbly-shaped pieces, bed-time themed whimsy pieces (e.g. pieces shaped like a teddy bear, an owl, a cow jumping over the moon), and the edge is not straight (so there are no straight edge pieces). Click on the small images under the main product image to see example puzzle pieces. Like all our puzzles, this puzzle is laser-cut from 1/4" thick wood. Packaged in our standard unfinished pine wood box. Made in USA.

Wooden jigsaw puzzleMar 04, 2014

While pricey, you get what you pay for. The pieces fit together perfectly and several of them have interesting shapes. They are challenging, but my daughter, who this was a gift for, likes this. The end product was beautiful! Worthy of a frame. The puzzle arrived when promised and in perfect condition!

Beautiful puzzleMar 18, 2014
I received this as a gift and I was very pleased. The picture is gorgeous, the puzzle difficult but not impossible. Took me about two days of working on it (about 10-15 hours, I'd say). You want a challenge when the puzzle is this expensive!
When put together, the puzzle is a solid piece. You can move it around a bit and it won't come apart (unlike another Artifact puzzle-the Dragon Mountain one). There are tons of fun individual shapes, plus a few that put together make a fun grouping (such as the teapot pouring into a cup and saucer).
The main challenge is that there is very little color in the picture. There's white/grey/silver, several shades of blue and the butterflies. Also, the edges are not straight, which I did not realize until almost done. I only found a few "edge" pieces, so started to work in the middle and worked my way out. The edges ended up being a wave pattern.
I would definitely recommend this and am very glad to have received this!

Challenging and beautiful puzzle!
Received as a gift, I spent two days working on this puzzle and enjoyed every minute of it. It has lots of whimsey pieces, mostly related to the moon or the nursery rhyme, very few colors to help in putting it together, and an incredible number of one-of-a-kind shapes. Even when I had only a dozen pieces left, they were still a challenge to find their proper spaces. A very enjoyable pastime and very rewarding when finished.
I LOVE the whimsey pieces in these puzzles. I found 33 whimsey pieces in this puzzle -- 5 of which have 2 pieces, 4 are musical and 2 scenes. Can you find them all? Most have something to do with the nursery rhyme, nighttime, or the sky. Thanks to your designer for a really fun puzzle.
